Like the weather report for the past few weekends, real estate can also look pretty grim right now. In fact, if you ask most people (and agents) about the market, they have a “doom and gloom” response about how bad things are.

We recently attended Brian Buffini's Success Seminar, and in it, he listed three reasons why the market is actually a great market. First of all, there is less competition amongst real estate agents. The housing bubble of 2005 produced an influx of qualified and not-so-qualified real estate agents. However, as the recession hit, those agents who were not-so-qualified took a hike. The result? Now only the best agents remain. This is good news for us because we are still standing, and we are standing strong!

Secondly, another reason the market is great is because there is a sale going on! Housing prices are discounted, and this means that we can find some great deals for our clients. This makes for a great buyer’s market.

Lastly, interest rates are low. People are able to buy houses at the lowest interest rates we’ve seen in years. This means that our buyers are able to qualify for properties they may not have been able to afford previously. This also means that some people are also able to buy investment properties.

In addition to these arguments about why the market is great, Brian Buffini emphasized the importance of having solid values in your business. The 2005 market may have made a lot of people a lot of money quickly, but it did not encourage the honest business practices that have kept the best agents still standing. At The Dailey Group, we are committed to practicing sound business principals and keeping the values in place that help us to weather any storm--even Irene.
